Definition

A “student” shall mean an individual who is:

  1. Currently enrolled in the College. A student is considered enrolled on the first day of any class, course, or program for which the student registered; or
  2. An active student. Active students are defined as currently enrolled students, plus 12 months after the last day of the last course the student was enrolled in; or
  3. Accepted for admission into a program that is not open enrollment.

The above-referenced criteria include credit and noncredit students regardless of method of delivery.

For purposes of enforcement of the Student Standards of Conduct policy and procedures, or student conduct investigated under other College policy, including policies prohibiting discrimination and harassment, an individual is considered a student if the conduct reported occurred at the time he or she met one of the criteria listed above in items 1, 2, and 3. A registration hold will be placed on an individual not currently enrolled but alleged to have engaged in conduct during a time that meets one of the criteria listed above.

The College reserves the right to enforce its student conduct policy and procedures, or student standards of conduct investigated under other College policy, if an individual is alleged to have engaged in conduct after submitting an application, or is considered an active student, but is not currently enrolled.

Eligibility for Student Services

Students are eligible for services if the student meets one of the criteria listed above in items 1, 2, or 3, or at its discretion, the College determines the provision or continuation of services is in the best interests of the student and the College community. Please note, specific eligibility requirements may also apply in order to utilize certain student services provided by the College.

Requirement to Submit a New Application

Active students are not required to submit a new application unless a specific program requires additional procedures for admission.

Any student who has not registered for a College class, course, or program for 12 months since the last day of the last course enrolled will be deemed inactive and will be required to either complete a new online application or update an existing application. Exceptions to this requirement must be approved in writing by the vice chancellor of student affairs.
