Announcing New Articulation Agreement with Stephen F. Austin State University
June 16, 2020
Austin Community College (ACC) is pleased to announce a new partnership with Stephen F. Austin State University (SFA) in Nacogdoches, Texas. Senior leadership from both schools signed the articulation agreement in early May and it will provide a seamless transition for students to transfer to SFA upon fulfilling their associate degree at ACC.
SFA has created over a dozen online bachelor’s degree completion pathways and ACC students can earn their bachelor’s degree while safely staying at home. The university also offers an array of academic services to help navigate the transition from ACC to SFA and support them while they complete their bachelor’s degree.
SFA is committed to helping students continue on their college path as efficiently as possible, especially in light of the COVID-19 crisis. “These new uncharted waters have created a shift from a face-to-face campus atmosphere to an increase in our telecommunication abilities to deliver our courses. The SFA faculty and staff have also used this changing time to move more of our programs online. SFA welcomes the opportunity to assist ACC students in this transition process,” says Dr. Janet Tarielo, SFA’s Office of Academic Affairs.
SFA’s College of Liberal and Applied Arts offers “Baccalaureate Online Completer Degrees” in over a dozen degree programs, including: Criminal Justice, Sociology, Social Work, Psychology, Government, History, and Communication Studies.
A noteworthy advantage of this new agreement is that ACC students completing an Associate of Applied Science (AAS) degree in a Workforce Education program can pursue their Bachelor of Applied Arts and Science (BAAS) degree. Most technical and career-oriented courses, as well as military training and occupational licensure or certification, are accepted into this bachelor’s degree program. “The BAAS pathway offers flexibility and highlights the value of students’ work and life experiences as they pursue their bachelor’s degree,” says Dr. MaryJane McReynolds, Director of ACC’s Office of Articulation & University Relations.
SFA offers BAAS degrees in General Business, Public Administration, Industrial Technology and Communication Studies and Multidisciplinary Studies.
SFA is committed to partnering with ACC to provide an efficient and cost-effective educational pathway our student needs to achieve their educational goals. For transfer admission information, please email: admissions@sfasu.edu or call: 936-468-2504.
