This summer, the Teaching & Learning Excellence Division (TLED) is charting a new course. Instead of our usual lineup of collegewide events, we’re pressing pause on programming like Summer Software Day (SSD), Remote Recess, and Charlas. Why? Because we’re choosing to prioritize something just as essential to our mission: meaningful connection.

Guided by the principles of Love as a Business Strategy, we’re launching the TLED No-Event Summer Series—a season centered around strengthening relationships, recharging as a team, and engaging in leadership development. We’re using this intentional time to step back from the screen and lean into reflection, collaboration, and purpose.

While much of this summer’s focus is internal, we’re still excited to invite the Austin Community College (ACC) community to participate in two special offerings:

🌟 Motivational Mentoring Mondays

Start your week with purpose! These weekly, virtual drop-in sessions—hosted by TLED leadership members—offer ACC employees a space to explore leadership, ask questions, and gain real-world insights across a variety of topics. Whether you’re curious about stepping into a new leadership role, practicing effective communication, or fostering team belonging, there’s something for everyone.

📅 Day of the week: Mondays

🕙 Time: 10 – 11 a.m.

📍 Modality: Virtual

No sign-up needed—just join and grow! #TLEDMentorMonday

(Hosted by Matthew Evins, Director, Academic Technology)

🌮 Talk-O Tuesdays with TLED

What’s better than tacos and real talk? TLED is heading to campuses across the district to meet ACC faculty and staff where they are—literally. These visits are designed to connect with campus employees in their spaces, from Elgin to Round Rock and beyond. Whether you want to explore emerging technology tools with Matt, learn how Library Services supports your curriculum with Keri, or talk about collegewide events with Susy—we’re bringing the conversation (and the tacos) to you.

📅 Day of the week: Tuesdays

🕙 Time: 11 a.m. – 1 p.m.

📍 Modality: In-Person (locations rotate weekly)

Internally, our division will also be engaging in the following rhythms each week to support balance and connection:

  • Well-Balanced Working Wednesdays: A meeting-free midweek reset to focus on deep work, catch up, and reflect.
  • Thoughtful Thursdays: A weekly pause to reflect on the connections we’re building with colleagues across ACC. These small moments of recognition help us stay grounded in purpose and people.
  • Fun and Fitness Fridays: Low-stakes, high-impact moments of movement and joy to recharge before the weekend.

This summer is not about doing less—it’s about doing what matters most. By investing in connection and leadership from the inside out, we’re preparing for an even stronger, more intentional year ahead.

Thank you for supporting this shift in rhythm. We can’t wait to see you at a taco table or mentoring session soon.
