Reports To Faculty Development Team Lead

Position Information Apply to be part of a faculty team whose purpose is to redesign an existing new faculty orientation course. The team will work collaboratively to brainstorm innovative presentations of the course content, loosely following agile design, to complete the redesign by the August 2022 release date goal.  The team will meet weekly, then use their remaining hours to complete agreed-upon research, revision, reorganization prior to the next week’s meeting.

Term of Appointment All remote work commencing May 2022 with a completion date of August 2022. Approximately 100 hours at $51/hour, 33 hours a month for three months.

Eligibility The Course Designer role is open to all ACC faculty (full-time and adjunct) who have taught at ACC for at least 3 years, have demonstrated dedication to online teaching and learning through research and/or participation in Faculty Development offerings, especially related to equitable design. Ability to use Blackboard and Zoom’s advanced features preferred. Exposure to Quality Matters appreciated.

General Statement of Job

Works collaboratively to redesign and optimize the New Faculty Orientation Asynchronous Blackboard course. In the spirit of ACC Faculty Values of collaboration, scholarship, and teaching this role will create innovative methods for conveying complex topics succinctly while modeling best pedagogical practices. 

Essential Duties

To complete the course redesign, 2 ACC faculty will be hired to work with the Team Leader, and as needed, an Instructional Designer, to review/revise the existing modules with an eye toward innovation and modeling good design practices utilizing Blackboard tools. The team will redesign course content and functionality to more fully-highlight Bb options for supporting innovation and equitable instruction. The Team Leader, with support of the Faculty Development Team and an assigned Instructional Designer will collaborate with the ReDesign Team to optimize module redesign and Bb feature optimization. The team will make final revisions collaboratively to complete the redesign timely (early August) for Fall 22 enrollments. The team will review, revise and update:

  1. Course Learning Outcomes: Review, Assess, Revise as needed;
  2. Module Learning Outcomes: Review, Assess, Revise as needed;
  3. Aligning existing content with Course Learning Outcomes;
  4. Assemble content to fill Learning Outcome content voids;
  5. Review all Course/Module Assets for attaching “Make one like this” Resource sheets;
  6. Collaborate with team members to incorporate Blackboard instructional support features in order to model good practices.
