An Update Regarding ProctorU
October 20, 2021
Throughout the COVID19 pandemic, ACC faculty have done a remarkable job transitioning to online and hybrid learning models. To help aid this transition, ACC partnered with ProctorU to allow for live, remote exam proctoring for students of asynchronous online class sections. ACC paid for every instance of ProctorU testing beginning in April 2020 at little to no cost to students. ProctorU has been a great tool for faculty and students throughout the pandemic thanks to its professional tool set and academic integrity reporting. As the pandemic begins to wind down and a strong portion of the population returns to on-campus learning, we will be transitioning away from the need for ProctorU. Due to this and the high cost of ProctorU testing, ACC will be discontinuing our institution-funded contract with ProctorU at the end of Fall 2021.
Faculty should plan to transition away from ProctorU prior to the start of Spring. We encourage the use of Respondus and faculty-led proctoring for most testing instances, as well as the in-house DE Proctoring service for high-stakes exams. This would also provide a good opportunity to contact the DE instructional design team to explore alternative assessment models. Please contact the Distance Education office at dlstaff@austincc.edu if you have students in very extenuating circumstances when no other testing option is possible for them.

Hello, but will ProctorU still be available to Students to pa yon their own if they wish? …not that that’s preferable, but in crunch time it could be a potential option

Hi Professor Eissler,
ProctorU student pay will not be available in Spring 2022. If live proctoring is necessary for an online student, they should expect to utilize ACC Distance Education Proctoring.
