2019-2020 Calendar, Connections: People, Partnerships, and Pathways to Student Success

About Our 2019-2020 Calendar

We’re always looking for new ways to support faculty in their Austin Community College experience. Each year, we produce a calendar where monthly topics are meant to inspire faculty to take a deep dive on higher education issues. This year, we’re connecting you to Guided Pathways at Austin Community College. Our theme is all about connections: how people and partnerships strengthen our students’ pathways to success.

The Teaching & Learning Excellence Division’s (TLED) 2019-2020 calendar:

  • Outlines the work that is involved in developing and implementing guided pathways
  • Clarifies the roles of internal college stakeholders in the various components of guided pathways
  • Serves as a practical tool for planning and implementing your work to support guided pathways

To frame this information, we highlight Guided Pathways Essential Practices outlined by the Community College Research Center (CCRC) and the American Association of Community Colleges (AACC) Pathways Project. We share one of the key practices and provide a list of the internal college stakeholders involved in leading and supporting the outcomes of guided pathways and student success. This work is a college-wide effort and is embedded in all levels of decision-making and initiatives in progress at Austin Community College.

Throughout the year we will provide pathways information that aligns with the practices in this calendar and updates on the work that has been completed, highlighting what is in progress and sharing what is being planned for future development. Read more about the Pathways model.

Notes on the Design

Example Planner PageAfter surveying faculty in Spring 2019, we discovered that there was a high level of interest in adding “planner” elements to future designs. You’ll find interactive pages where you can set intentions, plan goals and tasks, track healthy habits, and reflect on your work. Additionally, we found that there was a strong need for “extra space” on dates for each month. We believe the non-traditional list calendar format we’ve chosen will address this request. Other design features include the ability to switch between a wall calendar or a planner and easy access to important ACC dates/deadlines.

We know that many folks use ACC’s Google Calendar to keep track of their meetings and events. The Teaching & Learning Excellence Division (TLED) shares a Google Calendar with ACC faculty that includes all faculty events sponsored by ACC. Austin Community College employees can overlap this calendar with their work calendar to see upcoming opportunities. Learn how.
