The Department of Professional Photography aimed to equip the students with Adobe tools that allow for remote collaboration on creative projects and to foster more connection, collaboration, and a sense of community among the students. Jose Milan, PTA, M.Ed. Faculty member and Department Chair of the Physical Therapist Assistant Program approached the Instructional Web team with an idea to make an app for students to quickly access videos for the skills taught in the program. Unlike Blackboard, with the app, students could continue to reference the skill videos in subsequent semesters. According to Jose, “Students have told me that it is a more efficient way to get to the videos than logging into Bb, navigate to the unit, and then click on a link. It works well on all their devices.”
Austin Community College has decided that it will not renew our SoftChalk subscription effective August 31, 2023. After that date, users will no longer have access to the SoftChalk platform through ACC.
Blackboard Collaborate video conferencing was recently purchased by Class for Zoom and will no longer be available after the summer 2023 semester. Institutions licensing Blackboard Collaborate will be migrated to Class for Zoom once existing Collaborate contracts reach end of life. Because ACC already licenses Class for Zoom, we will be transitioning to the Class for Zoom product beginning in the fall 2023 semester. End of life for Collaborate will be August 11, 2023 at 5PM. Please download any recordings that you wish to keep prior to that date.
