You must either deploy wikis to a Content Area or create a Tool Link to wikis for your students to access them.

Creating a Wiki

Wikis allow course members to contribute and modify one or more pages of course-related materials and provide a means of sharing and collaboration. To get started, you need to create a wiki topic in your course. Your students and other course members can add pages to that topic.

Using the Calendar

Find all important course dates in one place through Blackboard’s calendar. You can use the course calendar to provide students with dates for course-related events. Course calendar events appear to all members of the course. Common entries include upcoming tests, due dates for assignments, or special lectures. Course items with due dates appear automatically in the course calendar. Only instructors can create course calendar events.

Creating Announcements in Blackboard

Announcements are a great way to communicate with your students. You can post updates, due dates, recaps, tips, corrections, and other relevant information for them to review. You can also send a copy of your announcements immediately to students as an email.

Copying Course Content into Blackboard

Copying course materials into a new course creates a course in the system and populates it with content from an existing course in the system. The course menu specified in the source course will replace the default menu in the new course.

Viewing Student Data in the Retention Center

Check the overall academic health of your class in the main table and see who is struggling. With just a glance, find out who needs your help and drill in to see their specific areas of difficulty. You can contact at-risk students immediately and flag those you want to monitor closely. As you observe their progress and send emails, you can also keep track of this correspondence and make notes about each student in the Retention Center.

Using the Blackboard Performance Dashboard

The Blackboard Performance Dashboard displays all types of user activity in your course or organization.  All users enrolled in your course are listed, including instructors, students, teaching assistants, graders, observers, and guests. Pertinent information about each user’s progress and activity appear.

Test Options

When you deploy a test in a content area, you set the options for feedback, due date, restriction by location, timer, multiple attempts, and presentation.
