Testing Centers provide testing support services for faculty and students in approved courses. This page outlines current guidelines and expectations for faculty use of ACC Testing Centers.
Testing Center Guidelines
Testing Center guidelines clarify how ACC Testing Centers should be used to best support teaching and learning. In general:
- Online (ONL) courses should administer tests online and should not require students to travel to campus for testing.
- Most face-to-face and hybrid courses should administer tests in class as part of students’ regular schedules.
This approach allows Testing Center staff to focus on tests for assessment, make-ups, accommodations, and licensure purposes.
Approved Uses for In-Person Testing
The ACC Testing Centers will allow only the following for in-person testing. Testing time is limited to the class time, typically one and one-half hours. Review the Campus Testing Guidelines for Faculty for full details.
- Student Accessibility Services (SAS) testing: All approved SAS testing.
- Assessment tests: Institutionally approved assessment tests (for example, TSIA or CASAS).
- Placement tests: Placement tests such as ALEKS.
- Make-up exams: Make-up testing for students who missed the original test is available for lecture, HYD, HYC, and FLX courses. Use is limited to no more than 25% of students enrolled in each section for each of four tests.
- Industry certification exams: Programs that incorporate an industry certification exam (for example, Microsoft, Adobe) may use the ACC Business Assessment Center for Testing (BACT) at HLC or RRC for those certification exams.
Campus Testing Transmittal and TestACCess
The Campus Testing Transmittal form is now available online through TestACCess, ACC’s instructional testing software. Submitting through TestACCess allows your testing information for approved tests to upload directly into the program, making tests available to students more quickly.
Testing staff will continue to accept the latest version of the paper transmittal form available through the ACC forms inventory. Go to the ACC Forms Inventory: Testing Center page to download and complete the Campus Testing Transmittal form and submit it to [email protected].
