International Student Admission Categories

    • F-1 International Student: An individual in F-1 nonimmigrant status admitted to the U.S. to pursue a full-time academic program at a Student and Exchange Visitor Program (SEVP)-certified institution. The F-1 student’s status is documented by a Form I-20, maintained by a Designated School Official (DSO), and recorded in the Student and Exchange Visitor Information System (SEVIS). F-1 students are required to complete immigration check-in with the International Student Office prior to enrollment at ACC and must maintain full-time enrollment in accordance with federal regulations.
    • Other Visa Types: An individual lawfully present in the U.S. in a nonimmigrant visa classification other than F-1 (e.g., employment-based, exchange visitor, or dependent categories). Eligibility for enrollment and study requirements may vary depending on the specific visa classification in accordance with federal immigration regulations.
    • Applicant for Lawful Permanent Resident: An individual who has filed or is in the process of filing an application with the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) to become a lawful permanent resident (Green Card holder).
    • Applicant for Asylum: An individual who has filed an application for asylum or is awaiting a decision from the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) or an immigration court.
