Laura Cortes Franco — Professor of General Studies, Student Development
Dra. Cortes Franco is an Associate Professor at Austin Community College, where she teaches EDUC 1300: Learning Frameworks, helping students develop critical thinking, resilience, and lifelong learning skills. She holds a Ph.D. in Industrial and Organizational Psychology and a Master’s in Counseling and is the founder of Cortes Consulting, LLC, providing research-informed organizational and workforce consulting. A community college graduate, Mexican citizen, immigrant, and DACA recipient, her research interests include leadership, professional development, workplace systems, AI, and intersectionality. She brings a bilingual, equity-centered perspective to teaching, leadership, and applied practice and serves as Vice-Chair Commissioner on Austin’s Community Police Review Commission.
