Gerardo Sanchez Gutierrez — Professor of Biology

As a first generation student from the Rio Grande Valley, I am keenly aware of the communal effort it took to help achieve my goals. Drawing from community cultural wealth perspectives, I take a deeper look into these relationships and how scientific identities are developed within our communities. My teaching experience follows suit, via student centered curriculum that aims to build towards students unique backgrounds and lived experiences.
