Bryan Port — Professor of History
In January 2024, I joined Austin Community College to help establish the Center for Government and Civic Service, where I also teach U.S. history while completing my PhD in American History at the University of Texas at Austin (ABD). My dissertation examines the evolution of the American concept of the national interest. I retired in 2024 from the U.S. Department of Defense after 30 years of military and civil service, most recently as Senior Advisor for Strategy at the U.S. Army Futures Command. I previously served as Director of Strategy for U.S. Forces Korea and in senior intelligence roles worldwide. My degrees are from UC Santa Cruz, Georgetown, and the National War College.
