If you have a question not listed here, please email<br \/>\n<a href=\"mailto:tledwebsite@austincc.edu\">tledwebsite@austincc.edu<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h3>What web conferencing tools are available for ACC faculty and staff?<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/tled.austincc.edu\/faculty-support\/tools\/web-conferencing\/google-meet\/\">Google Meet<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/tled.austincc.edu\/faculty-support\/tools\/web-conferencing\/webex\/\">Webex<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/tled.austincc.edu\/faculty-support\/tools\/web-conferencing\/zoom\/\">Zoom<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Can faculty use other web conferencing platforms not supported by ACC?<\/h3>\n<p>No. Faculty must use one of ACC\u2019s supported platforms.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Platforms must meet <a href=\"https:\/\/www.austincc.edu\/admrule\/1.01.002.htm\">College Accessibility standards (AR 1.01.002)<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>Supported platforms have been vetted for accessibility and institutional compliance.<\/li>\n<li>If you find a tool with instructional potential that is not currently supported, you may<br \/>\nsubmit a proposal to the <a href=\"https:\/\/minutes.apps.austincc.edu\/\">Instructional Technology Advisory Committee<\/a> for review.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Faculty are encouraged to work with TLED\u2019s Academic Technology Support team to stay informed about emerging technologies.<\/p>\n<h3>Which web conferencing platform works best for students in High School Programs?<\/h3>\n<p>There is no single \u201cbest\u201d tool. The right choice depends on:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Internet availability and stability in each area of Austin<\/li>\n<li>Course design and instructional needs<\/li>\n<li>Student accessibility requirements<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>What is ACC doing to improve internet and device access for students?<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Device distribution: Since Spring 2020, ACC has provided iPads (1,500 kits currently available) and laptops as needed for specific courses.<\/li>\n<li>Peripheral support: Students can request headsets, microphones, webcams, and other devices.<\/li>\n<li>Internet access: Wi-Fi is available in ACC parking lots for students without reliable home internet.<\/li>\n<li>Subsidy program: ACC is monitoring the FCC\u2019s new internet subsidy program and will share details once it launches.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>How can I get involved in piloting new teaching technologies?<\/h3>\n<p>TLED\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/instruction.austincc.edu\/tled\/tled-offices\/office-of-academic-technology\/\">Office of Academic Technology<\/a> leads pilots each year to test emerging tools.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Opportunities to apply are announced through the <a href=\"https:\/\/instruction.austincc.edu\/tled\/tled-offices\/office-of-faculty-communications\/\">Office of Faculty Communications<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>To request institutional review of a new tool, contact: Matthew Evins, Director of Academic Technology at <a href=\"mailto:matthew.evins@austincc.edu\">matthew.evins@austincc.edu.<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>All proposals go through a formal review, including accessibility testing and feedback from the <strong>Instructional Technology Advisory Committee<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<h3>Which web conferencing tools do students prefer?<\/h3>\n<p>While ACC has not conducted a formal survey, anecdotal feedback suggests:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Zoom is the most preferred by students.<\/li>\n<li>Nearly all Student Affairs video conferences with students use Zoom.<\/li>\n<li>For accessibility: Zoom\u2019s superior video refresh rate makes it the required platform when working with deaf students using sign language interpreters.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Where can I find web conferencing tips?<\/h3>\n<p>For etiquette guidelines and best practices, visit:<br \/>\n<a class=\"button\" href=\"https:\/\/instruction.austincc.edu\/tled\/faculty-support\/tools\/web-conferencing\/\"><br \/>\nTips for Web Conferencing Your Class<\/a><\/p>\n<h3>Get Help<\/h3>\n<p>The Teaching &amp; Learning Excellence Division (TLED) and the Office of Distance &amp; Alternative Education (ODAE) provide comprehensive support in course design, technology tools for teaching, and other high-impact practices that contribute to our Guided Pathways model at Austin Community College (ACC).
