We offer a range of consultations for just-in-time assistance. It prevents students from accessing other browsers or tabs; copying, pasting, or taking screen captures; using instant messaging; opening other applications; or visiting other websites (unless configured to allow specific external sites).<\/p>\n<p>LockDown Browser can be used on its own or with Respondus Monitor for added security. Respondus Monitor uses the student\u2019s webcam and microphone to record the testing session and deter use of secondary devices, outside materials, or assistance from others.<\/p>\n<h4>What\u2019s the difference between LockDown Browser and Monitor?<\/h4>\n<p>LockDown Browser restricts the testing environment on the device. Monitor adds webcam and microphone recording during the exam.<\/p>\n<h4>How do I get started with Respondus?<\/h4>\n<p>Visit the <a href=\"https:\/\/tled.austincc.edu\/faculty-support\/tools\/respondus\/\">Respondus tool page<\/a> to get started.<\/p>\n<h4>What are the technical requirements for Respondus?<\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li>Windows: 10, 8, 7 (note: Windows 10 S is not compatible)<\/li>\n<li>Mac: OS X 10.10 or higher<\/li>\n<li>iOS: 10.0+ (iPad only)<\/li>\n<li>Webcam (internal or external) and microphone <em>(Respondus Monitor only)<\/em><\/li>\n<li>Broadband internet connection<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4>Are LockDown Browser and LockDown Browser with Monitor compatible with iPads?<\/h4>\n<p>Yes. How do I access the Respondus test bank software?<\/h4>\n<p>Mac users can access Respondus via the <a href=\"https:\/\/it.austincc.edu\/working-remotely\/acc-virtual-workspace\/\">ACC Faculty Virtual Desktop<\/a>. If you have not enabled the Faculty Virtual Desktop, you can do so there. Visit the <a href=\"https:\/\/instruction.austincc.edu\/nexus\/kb\/respondus\/\">Teaching and Learning Knowledge Base<\/a> for setup instructions.<\/p>\n<h4>What do students need to know to use Respondus?<\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li>Students must <a href=\"https:\/\/download.respondus.com\/lockdown\/download.php?id=999134577\">download and install LockDown Browser<\/a> on their system. iPad users need to download the <a href=\"https:\/\/apps.apple.com\/us\/app\/lockdown-browser\/id659101775\">LockDown Browser app<\/a> from the Apple App Store. (ACC-issued iPads include LockDown Browser.)<\/li>\n<li>Students must use LockDown Browser to open Blackboard and access the exam. Ally does not change how course content works but provides \u201cindicators\u201d to show file accessibility. Instructors can click the indicator for feedback on issues, why they matter, and how to fix them.<\/p>\n<p>Ally also generates alternative formats, such as HTML for phones, ePub for tablets, MP3 for audio, and electronic braille. These formats do not affect the original file and are available to students and instructors.<\/p>\n<h4>Testing with accommodations<\/h4>\n<p>Testing accommodations are administered by each campus testing center. Students should schedule appointments at least five business days in advance. Once scheduled, <a href=\"mailto:SASTest@austincc.edu\">SASTest@austincc.edu<\/a> will email you with exam location and instructions.
