Bachelor of Applied Technology
in Manufacturing Engineering Technology

Do you want to advance your career in the manufacturing sector?

An affordable way to build on your associate degree

The Bachelor of Applied Technology in  Manufacturing Engineering Technology (BATMET) program is for students who already have an eligible associate degree and want an affordable pathway to earn an advanced credential. The stackable BATMET program bridges the demand for skilled professionals in Austin’s thriving manufacturing sector. Graduates of the program are prepared for supervisory, managerial, and team lead roles in manufacturing, engineering, and distribution-related fields.

Class sizes are small and led by faculty with industry experience. You are able to take classes part-time if needed, and you will have a dedicated academic advisor and access to all ACC student support serivices.

A student’s pathway in the BATMET program depends on the AAS or AS in Engineering degree they have completed.

ASSOCIATE OF APPLIED SCIENCE PATHWAY

  • If a student has completed one of the eligible AAS degrees, then they will follow this pathway which consists of 45 credits of technical courses, 42-44 credits of academic core curriculum, and 31 credits of upper-level coursework. Up to half of these credits should come from the Associate of Applied Science degree.

ASSOCIATE OF SCIENCE IN ENGINEERING PATHWAY

  • If a student has completed the eligible AS in Engineering degree, then they will follow this pathway which consists of 59-60 semester credit hours (SCH) of prerequisite core courses, 30 SCH of technical course work beyond the associate degree; and 31 SCH of upper-level BAT coursework. Students on this pathway will also be awarded a Level 2 Certificate in Engineering Technology.

BATMET courses are part of a structured curriculum, with courses only offered one time per year. Students must successfully complete their BATMET courses with a grade of C or better to be awarded the degree.

Enrollment in BATMET (APMT and SCLM) courses is restricted to students accepted in the BATMET program.

Admission to the college does not guarantee admission to the BATMET program, and enrollment is limited. Admission is based on a holistic review of associate-level program of study, overall GPA, and relevant experiences as indicated in your application materials.

  • Have an eligible prerequisite degree (see list above.)
  • Successful completion of college algebra or higher-level math course
  • Have a minimum 2.5 GPA on a 4-point scale for ALL academic coursework
  • Follow application process and submit application packet as detailed in the Application section
