This provides an additional layer of security since users will need access to their phone to sign in to the Zoom web portal, desktop client, mobile app, or Zoom Room.<\/p>\n<p><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-3742\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/instruction.austincc.edu\/nexus\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/66\/2024\/03\/2fa-diagram.png?resize=580%2C304&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"two-factor authentication\" width=\"580\" height=\"304\" \/><\/p>\n<h2 id=\"h_c44a023e-d930-4620-b0e8-da3a742bdbb9\">Setting up 2FA<\/h2>\n<ol>\n<li>Sign in to the Zoom web portal after your admin has enabled 2FA.<\/li>\n<li>Under <strong>Profile<\/strong>, scroll down to <strong>Two-factor Authentication<\/strong>, and select <strong>Turn on<\/strong>. You&#8217;ll be asked to enter your password to enable it.<img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-3744\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/instruction.austincc.edu\/nexus\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/66\/2024\/03\/Screen-Shot-2020-09-11-at-9.56.03-AM-1024x274.png?resize=580%2C155&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"Turn on 2FA\" width=\"580\" height=\"155\" \/><\/li>\n<li>Select\u00a0<strong>Authentication App<\/strong>\u00a0or\u00a0<strong>SMS<\/strong> (text) as your authentication method.<img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-3745\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/instruction.austincc.edu\/nexus\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/66\/2024\/03\/Screen-Shot-2020-09-11-at-9.58.07-AM-1024x342.png?resize=505%2C169&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"Authentication App and SMS\" width=\"505\" height=\"169\" \/><\/li>\n<li>Follow one of these sections depending on what you selected:<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h3 id=\"h_01EHT8B2P0WZFHVFTKP0ZWRFB9\">Authentication app<\/h3>\n<ol>\n<li>Click <strong>Set Up<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>If you don&#8217;t already have a 2FA app on your mobile device, Zoom recommends downloading <strong>Google Authenticator<\/strong> (Android\/iPhone) or <strong>Authenticator<\/strong> (Windows Phone 7)<\/li>\n<li>Open the 2FA app on your mobile device.<\/li>\n<li>Tap the option to scan a QR code. Look for a camera or QR code icon and scan the QR code on the Zoom web portal. The 2FA app will generate a 6-digit, one-time code. If you lose your mobile device, you can use a recovery code instead of a generated 6-digit code to sign in.\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Note<\/strong>: If you aren&#8217;t able to verify the code. Click\u00a0<strong>Back<\/strong>\u00a0to display the QR code again.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Click\u00a0<strong>Download<\/strong>\u00a0or\u00a0<strong>Print<\/strong> to store the recovery codes. Each recovery code can only be used once. Zoom will send a 6-digit, one-time code to your number.<\/li>\n<li>Open the text sent by Zoom. Open the 2FA app on your phone or view the text from Zoom.<\/li>\n<li>Enter the 6-digit code displayed on the 2FA app or text.<\/li>\n<li>Click\u00a0<strong>Verify<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h2 id=\"h_01EHT7XPSZA7CW95145NS4BEYG\">Signing in using a 2FA recovery code<\/h2>\n<p>If you no longer have access to your 2FA codes (for example, you misplaced device, uninstalled your 2FA app, or removed Zoom from the 2FA app), you can sign in using a recovery code you obtained when you set up 2FA.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Note<\/strong>: You can also contact your admin to reset your 2FA setup. When you sign in to the Zoom web portal, desktop client, or mobile app, you will be prompted to\u00a0set up 2FA\u00a0again.<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Sign in to the Zoom web portal, desktop client, mobile app, or Zoom Room.<\/li>\n<li>Click\u00a0<strong>Enter a recovery code<\/strong>.<img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-3750\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/instruction.austincc.edu\/nexus\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/66\/2024\/03\/Screen-Shot-2020-09-11-at-10.12.28-AM-1.png?resize=387%2C274&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"Recovery code\" width=\"387\" height=\"274\" \/><\/li>\n<li>Enter one of the recovery codes you obtained during setup. Each recovery code can only be used once.<\/li>\n<li>Click\u00a0<strong>Verify<\/strong>\u00a0to sign in.<\/li>\n<li>(Optional) If you lost access to your 2FA device, edit your existing 2FA setup to add a new device.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h2 id=\"h_01EHT9JQ79CZFG4EZTT7CWGXYZ\">Editing your 2FA setup<\/h2>\n<p>After setting up 2FA, you can edit your existing setup if want to remove a device, set up 2FA on another device, or view recovery codes.<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Sign in to the Zoom web portal.<\/li>\n<li>Under <strong>Profile<\/strong>, scroll down to <strong>Two-factor Authentication<\/strong>, and use these options to set up 2FA on a new device or remove an existing setup:<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Authentication App<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Set Up<\/strong>:\u00a0Set up 2FA using a supported 2FA app. This option is only visible if you don&#8217;t have an existing 2FA setup that uses a 2FA app.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Change Device<\/strong>:\u00a0Set up 2FA again using a supported 2FA app.\u00a0This option is only visible if you have an existing 2FA setup that uses a 2FA app.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Remove Device<\/strong>: Remove the existing 2FA setup that uses a 2FA app.<img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-3755\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/instruction.austincc.edu\/nexus\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/66\/2024\/03\/Screen-Shot-2020-09-11-at-10.36.25-AM-1024x264.png?resize=580%2C150&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"Edit authentication app\" width=\"580\" height=\"150\" \/><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>SMS<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Set Up<\/strong>:\u00a0Set up 2FA using a phone number that can receive SMS.
