Generally, it’s a best practice to allow students to control if they want to view captions during Zoom. Captions can be helpful for students with hearing issues, who have another primary language besides English, or just prefer it. Other students may find captions distracting.<\/p>\n

Enable closed captioning<\/h2>\n

  1. To use closed captioning on Zoom, you must first enable it. To do so, login to the web portal<\/a>, and click on Settings<\/strong> on the left side panel.\"Settings<\/a><\/li>\n
  2. Navigate to\u00a0In Meeting (Advanced)<\/strong> and scroll down until you find Closed captioning<\/strong>. Click the slider to enable it. To allow participants to save closed captions, enable Save Captions<\/strong> right below.\"Enable<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    With closed captioning enabled, you have three options to supply the captioning after selecting the Closed Caption<\/strong> at the bottom.\"Zoom<\/a><\/p>\n

    1. Assign a participant to type<\/strong>: this option will allow you to select the participant who will type. Make sure to assign the participant before entering a breakout room.<\/em><\/li>\n
    2. I will type<\/strong>: you will type the captions yourself.<\/li>\n
