{"id":19194,"date":"2026-07-30T19:36:10","date_gmt":"2026-07-30T19:36:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/instruction.austincc.edu\/nexus\/?post_type=ht_kb&#038;p=19194"},"modified":"2026-07-30T19:36:10","modified_gmt":"2026-07-30T19:36:10","slug":"blackboard-original-export-a-course","status":"publish","type":"ht_kb","link":"https:\/\/instruction.austincc.edu\/nexus\/article\/blackboard-original-export-a-course\/","title":{"rendered":"Blackboard Original: Export a Course"},"content":{"rendered":"<h3>Why Export?<\/h3>\n<p>In the event an instructor wants to preserve course content for use in the future, an export package can be created and saved to their local device or cloud-based storage repository.<\/p>\n<p>The content of an export package includes:<\/p>\n<ul class=\"itemizedlist\">\n<li class=\"listitem\">Course content<\/li>\n<li class=\"listitem\">Announcements<\/li>\n<li class=\"listitem\">Blogs<\/li>\n<li class=\"listitem\">Calendar<\/li>\n<li class=\"listitem\">Contacts<\/li>\n<li class=\"listitem\">Content Alignments<\/li>\n<li class=\"listitem\">Discussions<\/li>\n<li class=\"listitem\">Glossary<\/li>\n<li>Grade Center Columns and Settings<\/li>\n<li>Group Settings<\/li>\n<li>Journals<\/li>\n<li>Retention Center Rules<\/li>\n<li>Rubrics<\/li>\n<li>Tasks<\/li>\n<li>Tests, Surveys, and Pools<\/li>\n<li>Wikis<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Bear in mind, some Blackboard Original course content types and settings <a href=\"https:\/\/help.anthology.com\/blackboard\/instructor\/en\/course-and-content-management\/set-up-courses\/course-preview.html#content-types-and-settings-that-will-not-convert-734301\">will not convert<\/a> when you import your package to an Ultra course shell.<\/p>\n<h3>Exporting a Course<\/h3>\n<p>From the <strong>Course Management <\/strong>header in the menu pane to the left of your Original course content area, expand <strong>Control Panel<\/strong>, then <strong>Packages and Utilities<\/strong>, and select <strong>Export Archive Course<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/instruction.austincc.edu\/studentkb-archive\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/43\/2026\/07\/Screenshot_2.png?ssl=1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-4164 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/instruction.austincc.edu\/studentkb-archive\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/43\/2026\/07\/Screenshot_2.png?resize=207%2C426&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"Image of Blackboard Original course menu pane with arrows indicating Control Panel and Packages and Utilities collapsible menus as well as red outline box framing Export\/Archive course action link.\" width=\"207\" height=\"426\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>On the <strong>Export\/Archive Course <\/strong>page, select <strong>Export Package<\/strong>. Navigate back to the <strong><span class=\"guilabel\">Export\/Archive Course<\/span><\/strong> page and click the <strong>Refresh<\/strong> button. The export file should appear listed below<span class=\"guilabel\">. Don&#8217;t unzip a package or delete files from the package, as then the contents can&#8217;t be imported correctly.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Note: <\/strong>User created export packages exports are available in Blackboard for 30 days from creation date.
