I teach Spanish courses for ACC&#8217;s World Languages Department. As a bilingual and bicultural person, I experience life always at the meeting points of two opposing languages spoken by millions. In Spanish, the phrase &#8220;lugar com\u00fan&#8221; refers to a shared concept that everyone in a culture can immediately recognize or connect with. A perfect example is the song Cielito Lindo. A classroom is a meeting place where we try to find and communicate with one another across our cultural and linguistic differences.
