The Digital Higher Education Consortium of Texas assists Texas community colleges in providing learners an education without barriers through high quality digital educational opportunities, resources, and services that help students succeed.
DigiTex operates under the auspices of the Texas Association of Community Colleges and serves all 50 public community college districts in Texas.
Our Staff
Denise Robledo, Ph.D., Executive Director
Dr. Denise Robledo currently serves as a Manager of Instructional Design at Austin Community College (ACC) and coordinates activities for a Department of Education, Title V InFocus grant. The Distance Education InFocus grant provides $2.68 million to support work that will increase student persistence, retention, and success for Hispanic and other low-income students. Prior to working for ACC, Dr. Robledo served as the Director of Distance Education at Austin Peay State University located in Clarksville, Tennessee. In her role as Director, she managed instructional design and technology support services for the university. This position involved the evaluation and acquisition of instructional technology platforms, continuous improvement of online learning policies, and support mechanisms for the purposes of cultivating talented and innovative faculty. Prior to her position in Tennessee, Dr. Robledo also served as a Director of Distance Learning for South Arkansas Community College (SouthArk) located in El Dorado, Arkansas. In this position, she managed all operational areas and support mechanisms for the delivery of online learning. Dr. Robledo has a Bachelor’s degree in Telecommunication Media Studies, a Master’s degree in Educational Technology, and PhD in Rangeland Ecology and Management from Texas A&M University.
Heather Walker, Program Coordinator
Ms. Walker has spent the past fourteen years working in the field of higher education, first as a professor of English composition and literature at two different Texas community colleges, and later as a customer service representative and administrative assistant for Austin Community College. During her years as an instructor, she taught online courses extensively and acquired a strong understanding of the unique benefits and challenges of the online classroom, as well as an appreciation of the contribution that distance education makes to student success and degree completion. She is happy to be joining DigiTex at this time and excited to have the opportunity to work with the consortium to help achieve its goals for the future. Heather holds a Bachelor’s degree in Secondary Education and English from Concordia University Texas and a Master’s degree in English from Baylor University.
Advisory Council
The DigiTex Advisory Council advises and assists the Executive Director on the consortium’s policies and activities, advocates for the community colleges which comprise DigiTex’s membership, and helps increase partnership and collaboration among DigiTex’s member institutions.
