ACC offers two types:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/instruction.austincc.edu\/thegreatquestions\/huma-1301\/\"><strong>HUMA 1301: The Great Questions Seminar<\/strong><\/a> \u2014 taught from a <a href=\"https:\/\/instruction.austincc.edu\/thegreatquestions\/course-details\/\">common syllabus<\/a> and meets the College\u2019s Student Success Course requirement.<\/li>\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/instruction.austincc.edu\/thegreatquestions\/journey\/\"><strong>Great Questions Journey courses<\/strong><\/a> \u2014 designed by instructors in their home disciplines and taught with the same student-centered, discussion-based approach to help students explore core human questions through disciplinary texts.<\/li>\n\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Introduction to Great Questions Pedagogy<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">An introduction (or rediscovery) of discussion-based learning through the HUMA 1301: The Great Questions Seminar curriculum. Completing this program is required to teach HUMA 1301 and is the first step toward the Great Questions Journey Fellowship.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Note:<\/strong> This fellowship follows a different schedule. Applications open in the spring. For questions, contact Keri Pope at <a href=\"mailto:kpope@austincc.edu\">kpope@austincc.edu<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Outcomes<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Upon completion of the Introduction to Great Questions Pedagogy training, participants will be able to:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n\n<li>Discuss transformative texts with peers representing diverse academic disciplines.<\/li>\n\n\n<li>Apply discussion-based pedagogy in your own courses.<\/li>\n\n\n<li>Formulate engaging, student-centered study and discussion questions related to a core transformative text in your discipline.<\/li>\n\n\n<li>Create a project or group-based activity centered on a core transformative text in your discipline.<\/li>\n\n\n<li><strong>Hours:<\/strong> 24 total (12 in-meeting across six meetings; 12 in preparation)<\/li>\n\n\n<li><strong>Stipend:<\/strong> $600<\/li>\n\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>Completion places candidates in the selection pool for the Great Questions Course Redesign Workshop Fellowship.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Faculty who have completed the Introduction to Great Questions Pedagogy<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<details class=\"wp-block-details is-layout-flow wp-block-details-is-layout-flow\"><summary>View List<\/summary>\n<p>To date, 91 faculty members have completed the equivalent of the Level 1 training described above.
