The Teaching and Learning Excellence Division (TLED) is pleased to support opportunities for Austin Community College (ACC) faculty to engage in instructor-centered and initiated groups of like-minded peers to explore shared topics of interest.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For any questions, please contact the Office of Faculty Development at <a href=\"mailto:facdev@austincc.edu\">facdev@austincc.edu<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Overview<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Below are the steps and expectations for starting an ACC faculty interest group.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n\n<li><ul> <li>A faculty facilitator starts the process of creating a FIG by submitting the proposal form <ul> <li style=\"list-style-type: none\"> <ul> <li>As the applicant, you agree to organize and facilitate the meetings<\/li>\n\n\n<li>The group agrees to meet regularly to share ideas<\/li>\n\n\n<li><strong>Note:<\/strong> Group size is limited to no more than 12 to 15 faculty members<\/li>\n\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<\/li> <\/ul>\n\n\n\n<\/li> <\/ul>\n\n\n\n<\/li> <\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><em><strong>Faculty facilitators and participants are eligible to earn professional development credit.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Compensation:<\/strong> $250 for the faculty facilitator and additional funding for teaching and learning resources.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Duration:<\/strong> One or two semesters.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Expected outcomes:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n\n<li><ul> <li>Practical ways to use new ideas in teaching<\/li>\n\n\n<li>Log of meetings, topics, and attendees<\/li>\n\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<\/li> <\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Desired outcomes:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n\n<li><ul> <li>Results shared with colleagues at a department meeting, college development day, blog post, etc.<\/li>\n\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<\/li> <\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Example topics for faculty interest groups<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n\n<li>Alternative assessments<\/li>\n\n\n<li>Active and engaged teaching<\/li>\n\n\n<li>Incorporating interactive learning applications and approaches<\/li>\n\n\n<li>Building community in the dual credit classroom<\/li>\n\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n\n<li>Game-based learning activities<\/li>\n\n\n<li>Cognitive learning and memory<\/li>\n\n\n<li>High-impact practices<\/li>\n\n\n<li>Course-based undergraduate research experience<\/li>\n\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Faculty facilitator responsibilities<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n\n<li><ul> <li><a href=\"https:\/\/forms.gle\/xzwYB1ED65s1YB4g7\">Submit proposal<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n<li>Define group purpose<\/li>\n\n\n<li>Develop content to be shared<\/li>\n\n\n<li>Decide on days, times, and details<\/li>\n\n\n<li>Coordinate any speakers and meeting formats<\/li>\n\n\n<li>Lead selection of participants<\/li>\n\n\n<li>Take attendance at meetings<\/li>\n\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<\/li> <\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">We are here to help you every step of the way.<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Questions?
