Experiential learning encompasses a variety of activities including internships, service learning, undergraduate research, study abroad, and other creative and professional work experiences. Well- planned, supervised and assessed experiential learning programs can stimulate academic inquiry by promoting interdisciplinary learning, civic engagement, career development, cultural awareness, leadership, and other professional and intellectual skills.<\/p>\n<p>Learning that is considered \u201cexperiential\u201d contain all the following elements:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none;\">\n<ul>\n<li>Reflection, critical analysis and synthesis<\/li>\n<li>Opportunities for students to take initiative, make decisions, and be accountable for the results<\/li>\n<li>Opportunities for students to engage intellectually, creatively, emotionally, socially, or physically<\/li>\n<li>A designed learning experience that includes the possibility to learn from natural consequences, mistakes, and successes<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Austin Community College (ACC) offers a variety of experiential learning classes for students in all areas of study including internships, practicum and cooperative education (co-ops) courses, Health Science clinical and practicum experiences, apprenticeships, and service-learning.<\/p>\n<p>Visit <a href=\"https:\/\/tled.austincc.edu\/tled-offices\/office-of-experiential-learning\/\">Office of Experiential Learning<\/a> for more information.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Experiential learning is a process through which students develop knowledge, skills, and values from direct experiences outside a traditional academic setting.
