You must meet the specific requirements to receive the exemption, including academic requirements listed below.<\/p>\n<p>Tuition exemptions are not retroactive to a paid enrollment.\u00a0Based on the exemption, additional documentation may be required.<\/p>\n<p>For more information or to update your student information, contact any campus\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.austincc.edu\/campus-contacts?field_contact_office_or_dept_value%5B%5D=Admissions+%26+Records\">Admissions and Records Office<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h2>Exemptions Available to Austin Community College (ACC) Students<\/h2>\n<p>Find exemption program details at the\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.collegeforalltexans.com\/apps\/financialaid\/tofa.cfm?Kind=E\">College for All Texans<\/a> web page.<strong><br \/>\n<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none\">\n<ul>\n<li>Students Who are Blind or Deaf<\/li>\n<li>Children of Disabled Firemen\/Peace Officers<\/li>\n<li>Children in Foster or Other Residential Care<\/li>\n<li>Children Adopted Who were Formerly in Foster or Other Residential Care<\/li>\n<li>Children of Professional Nursing Faculty<\/li>\n<li>Children of POWs and MIAs<\/li>\n<li>Dependents of Deceased Public Servants<\/li>\n<li>Educational Aide<\/li>\n<li>Ex-Prisoners of War<\/li>\n<li>Firefighters taking Fire Science Courses<\/li>\n<li>Hazlewood<\/li>\n<li>Highest Ranking High School Graduate<\/li>\n<li>National Guard Waiver<\/li>\n<li>Peace Officer Exemption<\/li>\n<li>Clinical Preceptors and their Children<\/li>\n<li>Senior Citizens<\/li>\n<li>Students Enrolled in Courses for Dual High School and College-Level Credit<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Waivers Available to ACC students<\/h2>\n<p>Visit\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.collegeforalltexans.com\/apps\/financialaid\/tofa.cfm?Kind=W\">College for All Texans<\/a>\u00a0for more information on\u00a0waivers.<strong><br \/>\n<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none\">\n<ul class=\"browser-default\">\n<li>College Teachers, Profs, etc.<\/li>\n<li>Economic Development<\/li>\n<li>Foreign Service Officer<\/li>\n<li>Military Personnel and their Dependents<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Academic Eligibility for Exemptions\/Waivers<\/h2>\n<p>Effective fall 2014, Senate Bill 1210 (83rd Texas Legislature, Regular Session) requires you to meet the GPA and excessive hour requirement of\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.austincc.edu\/students\/financial-aid\/maintain-your-financial-aid\/track-your-academic-progress\">ACC&#8217;s satisfactory academic progress in a degree or certificate program<\/a>\u00a0determined by our financial aid policy.<\/p>\n<p>This requirement does not apply to exemptions provided to foster care alumni, co-enrolled high school students, or the dependent child or spouse of a Texas veteran who is missing in action, killed in action, or died as a result of service.<\/p>\n<h2>Tuition Exemption\/Waiver Appeal<\/h2>\n<p>An appeal of loss of tuition exemption may be submitted in consultation with an ACC <a href=\"https:\/\/www.austincc.edu\/students\/advising\/completion-counseling\">Completion Counselor<\/a> or Success Coach, and will be considered in cases where students have made substantial progress toward completion of a certificate\/degree and present sufficient documentation to support a finding of good cause for continued receipt of a state tuition waiver.
